As the Director of Projects and Associate Editor of Migrant-Rights.org, I report extensively on labour issues in the GCC and the corridors of migration, particularly from East Africa and South Asia.
Long before joining the GCC-based advocacy organisation, I was involved in grassroots activism in Qatar, seeking to provide both access to justice and immediate relief to migrants in distress. I also serve as a member of the ILO's Policy Advisory Committee for the Fairway Project in the Arab region.
As a subject matter expert, I am called on to write or give expert commentary for various media outlets including The Hindu, Washington Post, Middle East Eye, BBC Radio, Reuters and Huffington Post, and to discuss with various international bodies including the OHCHR, GFMD, ILO.
I work on changing the negative narrative on migrants and migration through advocacy with businesses and communities, and by telling the stories of the invisible people of the GCC from the countries of origin.
